September 2026Swing failure setups on the H12, Daily, Weekly, and Monthly timeframes.
01Overview
FPS is a TradingView indicator built around the swing failure pattern (SFP). It looks for SFPs on the H12, Daily, Weekly, and Monthly timeframes. After an H12 or Daily SFP it waits for a market structure break (MSB), then for the retest. H12 setups also get six take-profit levels. The dashboard sits in the indicator’s own pane, and everything else is drawn on the price chart.
Long and short setups come from two timeframe pairs. By default, an H12 setup confirms its structure break on H1 candle closes, and a Daily setup on H2 closes. The Weekly, Monthly, and quarterly rails don’t create trades. They mark higher-timeframe liquidity, where price often reverses. The strongest setups start with an SFP at one of those levels, followed by a Daily and an H12 setup in the same direction, like the XLM short below.
Prior highs and lows are liquidity pools. Stop losses rest just beyond them, and breakout traders enter as price crosses them. A sweep takes price through one of these levels and fills those orders. When the candle then closes back inside the level, the breakout has failed and the traders who entered on it are trapped.
The failed breakout sets up the trade. FPS then waits for price to displace the other way and break market structure. That break is the MSB, and it confirms the reversal. The entry comes on the retest, when price returns to the broken level.
- 01SweepPrice runs through a prior high or low.
- 02Failed breakoutThe candle closes back inside the level.
- 03MSBPrice breaks market structure the other way.
- 04RetestPrice returns to the broken level.
- 05TargetsTake-profit levels on H12 setups.
02Why FPS
FPS marks and updates the liquidity, setups, and zones for H12, Daily, Weekly, Monthly, and the quarter on one chart, every candle.
The recent history is marked up the moment the chart loads.
The countdown and the ↺ and ⚠︎ symbols show a sweep in progress before the candle closes.
Prop Mode turns your dollar risk into the dollar profit at each target.
03What you see on the chart
Where only one side is described below, it is the bullish side. Bearish setups mirror it.
Colored drawings are still valid. Gray ones failed and stay on the chart for reference.
Rails
Dotted rails mark the liquidity FPS is watching on each timeframe. When price trades through a rail, a forming SFP takes its place.
Forming SFPs
Once price trades through a rail, FPS shows the SFP while the candle is still open. It blinks until the close, and a countdown shows how long is left. ↺ means price is back inside the level. ⚠︎ means it is still beyond.
At the close, the SFP either confirms or clears.
Confirmed SFPs
A confirmed SFP is a solid line with its timeframe label (H12, D, W, or M). If the line turns gray, the SFP failed.
Market structure break
On H12 and Daily, a confirmed SFP marks the level price has to break, shown as a dashed line. When price breaks it, the MSB prints with an MSB label. If the setup fails or runs out of time first, the dashed line disappears.
Retest zone
When an H12 MSB prints, FPS shades the retest zone. When price comes back to the MSB level, a triangle prints on that candle and the dashboard reads LONG TRIGGERED. That is the entry signal.
If the setup is invalidated, the zone turns gray and its TP levels are removed. Daily zones can be turned on in the settings.
Take-profit levels
Each H12 zone comes with six take-profit levels, TP 1 to TP 6, each labeled with its price. They start counting after the retest. The first time price reaches a level, its label gets a ✓ and its alert fires. After TP 1, the ladder shifts left so price doesn’t cover it.
With Prop Mode on, you enter your risk in dollars. FPS works out the trade size and shows the dollar profit under each TP.
Historical zones
H12 zones that are never retested stay on the chart as historical zones, in their own colors. They keep extending until price comes back to them, and that first touch fires the Historical Zone Hit alert.
Quarterly rails
Quarterly rails mark the liquidity FPS watches on the quarterly timeframe. When one is swept, it blinks slowly, and its label shows 3M ⚠︎ while price is beyond it or 3M ↺ once price is back inside, with the days left in the quarter.
04Symbols
| Symbol | Meaning |
|---|---|
| ↺ | Price is back inside the swept level. The SFP is waiting for the close. |
| ⚠︎ | Price is still beyond the swept level. Shows only with Liquidity Rails on. |
| ▲under a candle | The first candle to touch a bullish retest zone. |
| ▼over a candle | The first candle to touch a bearish retest zone. |
| ✓ | A take-profit level that has been hit. |
| MSB | An MSB whose setup was invalidated. |
| MSB² | An H12 and a Daily MSB at the same level. |
| H2✓ H4✓ | Higher-timeframe confirmation since the MSB. |
05Dashboard
The dashboard sits in the indicator’s pane.
- The top row has a cell for each timeframe showing its state: off, forming (↺ with a countdown), confirmed, waiting for the MSB (MSB..), or MSB printed. The HTF cell counts how many timeframes lean each way.
MACRO>sums up the Daily, Weekly, and Monthly picture and warns when they disagree.SETUP>shows where the current H12 setup stands and how long it has left.FPS>tells you what to do: wait, look for longs on the retest, long triggered, or stand down. It also notes whether the higher timeframes agree with the trade.3M>appears while a quarterly rail is swept. When more than one setup is live, the others show beside the main one, or underneath with Mobile Layout on.
06Alerts
FPS has alerts for every stage. For the full workflow on an H1 chart, set:
- Swing Failure (confirmed) for the timeframes you trade
- Bullish and Bearish MSB, or MSB Confirmed (Any Side)
- Bullish and Bearish Retest, or Retest Triggered (Any Side)
- the Long and Short TP hits you take profit at
- Historical Zone Hit
Add the Swing Failure Triggered (Unconfirmed) alerts if you want notice while a candle is still forming. Each alert is a separate condition in TradingView’s alert dialog.
07How to use
Setting up the chart
- Add FPS to a chart. The dashboard opens in its own pane and the drawings appear on the price chart.
- Use an H1 chart. Some features don’t run on higher charts.
- Turn on the Line Legend in the settings while you learn the colors and line styles.
Reading a setup
These are the H12 steps. Daily setups follow them on the chart without TP levels, and their zones are off by default. Weekly and Monthly SFPs stop after step 4.
- Watch the rails.
- When price trades through one, the forming SFP blinks in its place. ↺ means price is back inside and ⚠︎ means it isn’t. The timer counts down to the close.
- At the close, the SFP either confirms as a solid line or clears.
- If the line turns gray, the setup failed. If it keeps its color, it’s still valid.
- The dashed line is the level price has to break. SETUP> shows the time left.
- When the MSB prints, the retest zone and TP levels appear, and FPS> reads “look for LONGS on retest”.
- When price comes back to the MSB level, the triangle prints and FPS> reads “LONG TRIGGERED”. Each TP gets a ✓ as it’s hit.
The trade
MACRO> and the note on FPS> show whether the higher timeframes agree. Historical zones and quarterly rails show other liquidity nearby.
Settings for common goals
| Goal | Setting |
|---|---|
| Position size and dollar targets | Prop Mode on, Risk Amount set |
| Daily zones on the chart | Show Daily Retest Zones on |
| A cleaner chart | Liquidity Rails off (this also hides ⚠︎), Historical Untested Zones at 0, Mitigation Triangles off |
| Phone screens | Mobile Layout on, Dashboard Text Size small |
| Faster loading and bar replay | A lower History Depth |
Good to know
- A timeframe shows “off” when the chart is above it.
- FPS only draws recent history, set by History Depth, so older setups don’t appear.
- Older drawings clear after a while.
- A gray line stays gray.
- Historical zones only form while Show H12 Retest Zones is on.
08TL;DR
- FPS marks swing failures on H12, Daily, Weekly, and Monthly: price sweeps a level, the breakout fails, and the candle closes back inside.
- A line that turns gray failed. Colored lines are still valid.
- H12 and Daily setups then wait for a market structure break (MSB). On H12 the MSB brings a retest zone and six TP levels.
- The retest of the MSB level is the entry. The triangle prints, the dashboard reads LONG TRIGGERED, and the TP levels start counting.
- Prop Mode sizes the trade from your dollar risk and shows the profit at each TP.
- Rails, historical zones, and quarterly rails show the liquidity around the trade.
- The dashboard shows where each setup stands and what to do next. Use an H1 chart.
